Whether you’re tracing whānau connections, researching a person, place, building, or event, or trying to better understand a moment in Hokianga’s past, the Hokianga Historical Society can help guide your search. Our volunteers and researchers draw on local knowledge, archival material, photographs, maps, and written records held within the Society and across trusted regional sources. Every request is different, and while we can’t promise answers to every question, we’ll always let you know what may be possible before any work begins. 

How it works 

Research is charged at $30 per hour. 

Once we receive your request, we’ll review the information you’ve provided and confirm whether we’re able to assist, along with an estimate of the likely time involved.
